Five suspects were arrested by the EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit for possession of drugs in Nigel.

The operation was carried out between 10:00 and 13:00 on February 18 and according to EMPD spokesperson Kobeli Mokheseng, the suspects are aged between 18 and 26 years.

“Two suspects, a male and female, were apprehended in Buxton Road after they were found in possession of khat, rock and crystal meth with an estimated value of R1 500,” Mokheseng said.

Another three suspects were nabbed in Springbok Road, Alrapark and found in possession of dagga, rock, crystal meth and mandrax tablets worth over R9 000.

EMPD officers also found cash on the suspects, which is indicative of drug dealing.

The suspects are facing charges of possession and dealing in illicit substances and they were expected to appear in Nigel Magistrate’s Court today (February 19).
