Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) invites unemployed youth to register on their Human Resources database in order for them to source staff for different projects.
Cheryl Taylor (Gauteng communications) from Stats SA explained that the organisation will hire about 150 000 contract staff countrywide to assist in the Census of 2021.
“South Africa has a policy of trying to hire people (especially unemployed matriculants) to work in the communities in which they live so we encourage any unemployed youth from our local municipal wards to register on the database. Those on the database will be considered for contract employment in different categories,” Taylor said.
The closing date for registrations is March 31. Visit Stats SA’s website at www.statssa.gov.za/hr for more information and for the registration form. Youth from Heidelberg and Nigel are advised that free wifi is available at all public libraries, selected restaurants and also at Heidelberg Mall.
