Drugs worth 35k taken off the street

Three suspects were arrested and charged with possession of and dealing in drugs.

According to Sgt Nellie Dwaba (SAPS Nigel spokesperson) members of the SAPS Nigel crime prevention unit were on patrol in Alrapark at around 15:20 on June 3, when they received information from the public that drugs are kept and being sold from a nearby house.

“The police members responded swiftly and arrived at the house in Kurper Avenue, where they found three men in the process of packing dagga and another white powdered substance believed to be Crystal Meth, into plastic bags,” Sgt Dwaba said.

The suspects (aged 18,- 20- and 21 years) were immediately arrested and charged accordingly. They were expected to appear in Nigel Magistrate’s Court on June 4.

According to Sgt Dwaba, the street value of the drugs is estimated at R35 000 and the arrest follows less than a week after another major dagga bust was made by the crime prevention unit in Visagie Park.

Until date, the police arrested several suspects and confiscated over R100 000 worth of drugs through its crime prevention initiative and station commander Lt Col Senzangakhona Mohale applauded the team’s efforts to rid the town of drugs.
