Lesedi licencing department now open

Lesedi Local Municipality (LLM) announced today (August 7) that the licensing department has reopened after a prolonged period of closure due to Covid-19.

The lockdown business working hours are from 08:00 to 14:00 Mondays to Fridays.

According to LLM, its service resumption strategy seeks to address the backlog in respect of licencing services which has risen due to the outbreak.
1. Vehicle testing stations will strictly enforce limitation operations to the capacity of the testing pit and in terms of norms and standards, per class of a vehicle and the limited permitted to resume with work in terms and lockdown regulations.

  1. Services which are rendered by the Motor Vehicle Registration and licensing function, the work will be prioritised and limited to registration and licensing of vehicles on a ‘first-come, first-served’ basis.
  2. Services which are rendered by driver licensing environment: renewal of driving licenses and testing of deferred applications will be prioritised, together with the renewal of driving license and professional driving permit.

All other DLTC services, including conversion of driving license in terms of section 23 of NRTA are still on hold until film recovery.

All licensing departments are now said to be 100% functional and available online for renewals. it was implemented by the road traffic management corporation since the 1 November 2018 and regulate the number of applicants per day, since the applicants were complaining about spending long hours in long queues.

This system allocates slots for renewal applicants (renewal of driving licenses as well as prdp), Service time slots are not allocated to new applicants of driving licence and learner’s licence. LLM has urged applicants to be patient as they work on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.

Applicants are advised to visit https://online.natis.gov.za as no more walk-in customers will be allowed. Walk-in services are prioritised for seniors citizens who are 60 years or older.

Applicants can use the website to either secure slot (appointment), register as a traffic user or report a minor crash. The purpose of the online system is to regulate the number of applicants per day.

Anyone who is experiencing difficulty in finding an available slot can leave their ID number and contact details at the enquiry counter for the DLTC supervisor’s attention, or alternatively send a WhatsApp message to 063 760 4949 and provide them with your ID number.
