Five suspects were arrested by Devon SAPS in connection with a business robbery on February 3.
Wolda Gute, a foreign national, was at his tuck shop in the Impumelelo location when two unknown men approached the shop around 3pm.
The men pointed firearms at Gute and his brother before being joined by two more men armed with knives. Gute and his brother were forced into the shop where four of the men demanded cash and assaulted the pair.
One of the brothers was able to escape the assault and phoned Devon SAPS, who responded swiftly to the call.
The four men fled from the scene in a white Mercedes-Benz, with only one stolen cellphone.
They drove towards Balfour Road, where they were cornered by police and a shoot-out ensued, during which one of the men was injured.
They were arrested and detained at Devon SAPS, while the injured man was taken to Heidelberg Hospital, where he remains under police guard.
Police recovered two unlicensed firearms during the arrest.
Devon SAPS station commander Capt Thokozile Ndou expressed relief at the arrest, giving credit to the relationship between the community and police.
Ndou also commended the swift response of Devon SAPS members to the scene.
