Suikerbos Bonsai Kai learns about carving

Suikerbos Bonsai Kai hosted a carving workshop on March 27, where bonsai lovers practised how to carve dead wood from their bonsai trees.

Theunis Visagie demonstrated how to use a die-grinder with the various grinder bits to carve the miniature trees into the desired effect.

Hannes Fritz spoke about the reasons for carving the trees and explained how carving enhances the bonsai.

Members who brought trees had an opportunity to practise their carving skills under the guidance of Theunis and Marlene, who brought a few die-grinders and bits with for members to practise with.

After the workshop and fellowship among members, each one left with a small tree they can develop, which was donated by one of the members.
