Elderly couple robbed in their home
Criminals posing as prospective home buyers stole a laptop and other valuables.
Criminals attacked and robbed an elderly couple in their home on June 26.
The couple put their house on the market and placed a for sale sign on the outside on June 21.
The couple received a call from a ‘prospective buyer’ and arranged with the buyer to view the property on June 26.
On the arranged date and time, the homeowners received a phone call from the buyer that he was at the gate.
They opened the gate for a white Fiat that drove into the driveway.
A man and two women viewed the property when suddenly a second man, armed with a handgun, entered the house.
The two men tied up the homeowners while the two women removed various items.
The women searched through drawers and opened a safe.
The suspects fled with a laptop, cellphones, a microwave oven and a revolver. Their vehicle registration plate, of which only a partial number was noticeable, was supplied to the police.
The case is under investigation at Heidelberg SAPS.
The police request anyone who knows anything or witnessed the incident to contact them. The police will deal confidentially with all information.
