PEP store at Angelo Mall robbed with toy guns

The three suspects stole cash from the store before fleeing the scene.

Members of the Nigel SAPS are investigating a case of business robbery at the PEP store at the Angelo Mall in town.

This was after three male suspects entered the store on the morning of October 30.

According to the complainant, an employee of the store, two of the three suspects remained at the store doors while the third approached the tills.

The suspect then hopped over the counter to gain access to the tills and pointed a firearm at the complainant, whom he instructed to open the tills.

Only one of the tills held cash, which the armed robber then took.

One of the suspects standing by the doors instructed the rest of the PEP store employees to go to the store room.

As they escorted the employees to the room, the shop alarm went off and the three suspects fled the store.
During their escape through the Angelo Mall parking lot, a Nigel SAPS detective, who was in the vicinity noticed the commotion.

The detective then drove to the gates where the security guards informed him the three suspects just ran out of the gates and that they were armed.

The detective gave chase and was joined by other members who received reports of the robbery.

The three suspects began shooting at the police, who retaliated.

The members of the Nigel SAPS managed to corner all three suspects and arrested them.

Upon further investigation, the officers found the firearms were toy guns with blanks.

No injuries were sustained during the shoot-out.

Two of the suspects are from Vosloorus and the third is from Duduza.

They are between the ages of 35 and 38.

The Nigel SAPS station commander, Lieutenant Colonel Louis Droskie applauded the members for their swift response.
