Nigel SAPS intensify fight against illegal mining

The Nigel SAPS has launched another targeted tactical operation to curb ongoing illegal mining in the area.

The Nigel SAPS, under station commander Lieutenant Colonel Louise Droskie, conducted another intelligence-driven tactical operation to address ongoing illegal mining in the greater Nigel area.

This effort brought together national and provincial SAPS tactical units, Gauteng Traffic, the police airwing, private security stakeholders, the EMS and air support teams.

Their expertise provided much-needed tactical reinforcement to counter this persistent challenge.

According to the police, while surface-level illegal mining has been significantly reduced through sustained interventions by the station and district teams, the problem continues underground.

The Nigel SAPS is committed to eradicating these threats and ensuring the community’s safety and security.

Over the past three weeks, teams from across Ekurhuleni and the province joined forces with the Nigel SAPS.

Their professionalism and tactical support have been invaluable, and the station thanks all who contributed to these operations.

The Nigel SAPS will continue to deploy every available resource and strategy to combat illegal mining and uphold public safety.
