The local SAPS released the following statistics on crimes reported in Heidelberg from January 12 to 18.

The stats have been shared to raise awareness in the community about current crime trends in the area.

Sector 1

(Bergsig, Blinkpoort, Eendracht, Groenfontein, Heidelberg Army Gymnasium, Heidelberg Kloof, Klippoortjie, Koppieskraal, Overkruin, Poortjie, Rooikraal, and rural areas – Spaarwater and Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve).

• N3 Freeway: Carjacking and kidnapping, N3 next to army base, January 12.

• Rietvallei: Infrastructure damage, Rietvallei, January 16.

• Spaarwater: Malicious injury to property and assault GBH, Second Street, January 14.

It also helps them identify and focus on hotspots.
