The Heidelberg SAPS released crime statistics for January 26 to February 1, outlining incidents reported across the area.

The local SAPS released these crime statistics reported in between January 26 and February 1.

These stats are shared to create community awareness about current crime trends in the area.

Sector 1

(Bergsig, Blinkpoort, Eendracht, Groenfontein, Heidelberg Army Gymnasium, Heidelberg Kloof, Klippoortjie, Koppieskraal, Overkruin, Poortjie, Rooikraal, and Rural Areas – Spaarwater and Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve):

• None reported.

Sector 2

(Boschfontein, Heidelberg CBD, Heidelberg Central, Jordaan Park, Klipstapel, Mount Arabel, Shalimar Ridge and Schickfontein).

• Heidelberg CBD: Theft of motor vehicle. Jordaan Street. January 30;

• Heidelberg Central: Theft of motor vehicle. Louw Street. January 30;

• Heidelberg Central: Pointing a firearm. Langlaagte Street. January 30;

• Shalimar Ridge: House robbery. Gouritz Street. January 29;

• Heidelberg Ext 6: Theft. Reitz Street. January 28;

• Jordaan Park: Burglary. Wes Street. January 27. Property involved: Ford Everest, Toyota Land Cruiser, cellphone, money, gas cylinder, pipe, laptop, TV, Honda CRV.

• Houtpoort: Murder. February 1;

• Rensburg: Fraud. Bree Street. January 30;

• Rensburg: Theft. Walker Street. January 28;

• Rensburg – Common assault. Bree Street. January 28;

• Rensburg: Robbery with firearm. Bree Street. January 30. Property involved: Cellphone, medication.

The Heidelberg SAPS urge community members to report all crimes in their areas because it can only respond when incidents are reported. It also helps them identify and focus on hotspots
