Local and international celebrity Musa Motha visited the Khanya Lesedi School of Specialisation in Ratanda.
Motha gained celebrity status as an amputee dancer competing on the highest stages.
He competed in Britain’s Got Talent and finished in the top five in season 16. Motha was among the only competitors to receive a group golden buzzer for his performance.
Motha (27) hails from the Vaal Triangle Sebokeng area.

He saw performances by the Khanya Lesedi School choir, dances by a school group and a gumboot dance.
“Ratanda was at one stage known for its arts and performance arts,” said Sedibeng Mayor Lerato Maloka.

“The Gauteng Arts and Culture Department works closely with the Lesedi Local Municipality (LLM) to bring back the performance arts to the area.
“We must give courage and hope to the community to ensure a future in SA.”
“A big thank you for making the day possible to the task team who worked behind the scenes. Others that made it all possible are the Sedibeng District, the LLM, the Gauteng Education Department, Social Development and the Emfuleni Municipality,” said Emmanuel Nkabinde, a teacher at Khanya Lesedi School of Specialisation.

Two soccer stars at the school, Bentle Lekone and Thabang Dube, were congratulated on their selection to play in the Tricolour Games in Reggio, Italy, from July 24 to 30.
Motha was on hand to congratulate the two players.
“To be successful, there are a few things to consider,” Motha told the learners.
“Work hard towards whichever dream you have. Choices are important, so choose wisely. Believe in yourself.
“Do not discard any education because it is the cornerstone to success. Have a purpose in life. And most importantly, hold on to your faith.”

A learner asked Motha how he coped with life after losing a leg and having a disability.
He said it was vital to live in the present and not think of what was.
“Live like your disability is not a problem. Make a difference in your and someone else’s lives,” he said.
After the event, LLM Mayor Mluleki Nkosi extended his gratitude.

“I want to thank all for making this event possible in the school where I matriculated in 1989,” he said.
”Musa is leaving to return to the United Kingdom in two weeks. We wish him all the success and the best of luck. Musa is an inspiration to others. He shows everyone that dreams do come true. It takes hard work, but it is possible.”
