Critical water levels affect Rensburg and parts of Emmasdal
Lesedi Local Municipality has warned that water supply remains critical in Rensburg and parts of Emmasdal despite stable levels at the Heidelberg Command reservoir. Water tankers are assisting affected areas while technicians work to restore full supply.
Water supply challenges continue in parts of Heidelberg and Rensburg.
Residents in parts of Heidelberg and Rensburg continue to experience water supply challenges as reservoir levels remain critically low in some areas. According to the latest water status update issued on March 16 by Lesedi Local Municipality, the Heidelberg Command reservoir is currently at 77%, indicating a stable supply.
Intake pressure from Rand Water is reported at 350 KPA, which is considered sufficient to maintain supply to some areas.
However, the Rensburg reservoir remains low at 33%, while the Emmasdal reservoir is at 85%, with supply to certain areas still classified as critical.
Municipal officials noted that although some parts of the municipality are receiving water, supply to Rensburg and parts of Emmasdal remains unstable.
Technical teams are continuing to work to restore normal water supply to the affected communities.
The areas currently affected include Rensburg, Extension 23, Extension 26, and parts of Obed Nkosi. Water tankers have been deployed and are roving through the affected areas to assist residents while efforts continue to stabilise the system.
Residents are urged to use water sparingly while technicians work to fully restore supply.
For water-related queries, residents can contact the municipal call centre at 016 466 1901.
