The South African National Defence Force brought smiles to learners and staff at Ratanda Bertha Gxowa Primary School on July 24, when members of the force visited the school and donated more than 50 water bottles as well as a brand-new school pull-up banner.

The visit formed part of SANDF’s community outreach initiatives aimed at strengthening partnerships and supporting schools within local communities.

Learners and educators warmly welcomed the SANDF delegation, with the event featuring performances by the school choir and the Basa le Meetse art group, who entertained guests while showcasing the learners’ talents.

Teacher Busi Ngubane, who welcomed the SANDF representatives on behalf of the school, said the visit was a meaningful gesture that demonstrated the importance of supporting education and empowering young people.

“We are grateful to the South African National Defence Force for visiting our school and showing their support to our learners. The donation of the water bottles and school pull-up banner means a great deal to us.

“It reminds our learners that they are valued and that there are organisations that believe in their potential and future. We appreciate this partnership and hope it will continue to inspire our children to work hard and reach their goals,” she said.

The donations were officially received by school principal Abraham Maseli, who expressed his appreciation on behalf of the school community.

“On behalf of Ratanda Bertha Gxowa Primary School, I would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the South African National Defence Force for this generous contribution.

“These items are not only valuable resources, but also represent SANDF’s commitment to supporting education and investing in the future of our learners. We appreciate the time taken to visit our school and engage with our learners. Together we can continue building a brighter future for our children,” he said.
