Gymagic Gymnastics celebrates major championship wins and growth in 2025
Gymagic Gymnastics founder Riaan Kruger says the club’s 2025 season delivered record medal wins at regional, provincial and national levels, while plans for 2026 focus on growth, international trials and securing a permanent training venue.
Riaan Kruger, founder of Gymagic Gymnastics, is celebrating another successful year for the club, reflecting on its achievements and growth in 2025.
“Our goal to remain the leading artistic gymnastics club in Ekurhuleni has been achieved,” Kruger said proudly.
Gymagic Gymnastics won numerous medals at Ekurhuleni, Gauteng, and National Championships across all levels, from beginners to advanced gymnasts.
The club’s senior boys claimed seven gold, seven silver, and 11 bronze apparatus medals, along with one overall gold, two overall silver, and two overall bronze at the National Gymnastics Championships.
The senior girls also performed exceptionally, winning five gold, one silver, and four bronze apparatus medals, along with one overall gold, one overall silver, and one overall bronze.
Kruger acknowledged challenges during international event trials due to health issues and injuries but remains optimistic ahead of the trials from 10 to 16 December at the National Training Centre in Eldoraigne. Updates can be found on Gymnastics SA social media.
“Our main challenge is finding a permanent training venue to dedicate more hours to our gymnasts. But challenges help us grow and learn,” Kruger said.
Kruger’s journey with the club began in 1995 when he was hired as a coach by Elsabé van der Heever. When van der Heever retired and moved to Cape Town in 1999, Kruger purchased the club and renamed it Gymagic Gymnastics.
Today, the club boasts several hundred gymnasts, ranging from ages five to 50, and offers a variety of programmes including basic, recreational, competitive gymnastics, adult classes, and programmes for children under five at local nursery schools.
Looking ahead, Kruger is excited for the 2026 competition season and hopes Olympic-level gymnasts from Gymagic will represent South Africa at international events, including the All Africa Games in Cameroon, the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, and selected World Cup events.
