Heidelberg Hockey ladies combined an emotional reunion with a clinical performance as they defeated OB Bash Crowned Eagles 4-1 in a Round 7 league encounter at Hoërskool Hugenote.
Heidelberg Hockey Club ladies delivered a commanding performance to defeat OB Bash Crowned Eagles 4-1 in their Round 7 league fixture at Hoërskool Hugenote.
The result further strengthens Heidelberg’s campaign as the team continues to build momentum in the competition under coach Daan Marx.
From the opening whistle, Heidelberg displayed confidence and composure, controlling possession and creating scoring opportunities against a determined Eagles side.
Their disciplined approach and clinical finishing ultimately proved decisive, securing a comfortable three-goal victory.
While the result was important in the context of the league season, the fixture carried added significance for many Heidelberg players, several of whom began their competitive hockey careers with OB Bash Crowned Eagles.
Heidelberg Hockey Club chairperson Rowleën Welsh described the occasion as one of the most meaningful matches of the season.
“This game was more than just a match; it was a very special one for us. Most of our players began their league journey with this incredible team, which welcomed us as rookie players with open arms and helped us grow both on and off the field.
“The friendships and memories we built there will last a lifetime. It was truly an honour to play against our former team and to share the field with so many familiar faces once again,” she said.
