Heidelberg Hockey Club opens recruitment as it prepares for men’s league debut in 2027
The Heidelberg Hockey Club is inviting players, beginners, and volunteers to join its growing programme as it lays the foundation for a new men’s league team set to compete from 2027.
The Heidelberg Hockey Club is calling on new and returning players to join its growing ranks as it prepares to establish a men’s league team ahead of the 2027 season.
The initiative forms part of the club’s broader expansion plans, with the aim of entering a Men’s Promotional League Team, marking the first step towards structured competitive league hockey in Heidelberg.
Club officials say the project is open to players aged 15 and older, welcoming individuals of all experience levels, from seasoned players and former athletes looking to return to the sport, to complete beginners keen to learn the game.
The club is also inviting community members interested in contributing off the field to get involved as coaches, team managers, umpires, or volunteers. According to the club, the development programme will focus on regular training sessions, skills development, and the creation of a supportive environment to grow participation in the sport locally.
Chairperson Rowleën Welsh said the initiative represents an important step for the sport in the area.
“We are excited to open the door for new players and supporters to become part of something that is growing from the ground up. This is about building a team, building skills, and building a hockey community in Heidelberg. Whether you are experienced or have never held a stick before, there is a place for you here,” she said.
