Mpumalanga Community Safety, Security and Liaison MEC Vusi Shongwe has used music to encourage road safety in the province by collaborating in a two tracks cd with some of the most celebrated South African artists.

“People idolise their artists and we saw it fitting to use these artists to preach the message of safety on our roads. Road safety is not a government effort alone but also requires cooperation from all South Africans,”said Shongwe.
Shongwe added that the song must resonate in the different means of public transport and homes to remind people to exercise caution and care on the roads.
Robbie Malinga a renowned music producer worked on the cd with eleven other artist including BIG NUZ, Zahara, Rebeccca Malope and Kelly Khumalo to mention but a few.
The two-track cd includes one song with all the artists and the MEC doing the intro and a warning prayer by Malope.
Shongwe reminded the people attending that his department has done many road safety campaigns, went to schools, churches, did road blocks and used different forms of media and it was time they launched a new approach to road safety.
In his conclusion, Shongwe reminded the people that roads are a public shared space and people must learn to respect one another on these roads and exercise patience and tolerance.
