Minibus taxi overturns at venue outside Ermelo during early hours

A recovery operation required extra preparation after a minibus overturned at an event venue near the N11.

ERMELO – A minibus taxi overturned at a venue about 10 km outside Ermelo on the Amersfoort road during the early hours of November 1.

According to information provided by local towing services, an event was being held at a venue near the N11 and De Emigrate Road when the incident occurred.

The minibus taxi driver allegedly drove onto an embankment, causing the vehicle to tilt sharply before overturning and coming to rest on its side.

The call for assistance was received at approximately 02:00. However, due to logistical challenges, the towing operation could only be completed the following day.

Ermelo Towing Services explained that recovering the vehicle required additional preparation to get close enough to the overturned taxi.

Two posts first had to be removed to allow the towing service’s 4×4 vehicle to approach the minibus. This enabled the vehicle to reverse close enough to the taxi to manoeuvre it back onto its wheels.

Despite the challenges involved in the recovery operation, the minibus was successfully returned to its wheels.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.
