Transit heist

As the guard tried to leave the shop, three unidentified men, having pretended to be customers, held him at gunpoint and demanded the money box.

Sasol Delight on the corner of Church and Oosthuise Street fell victim to another cash-in-transit heist at 08:37 on Tuesday morning.

According to the manager, Mr Ebrahim Khan, a security guard from the G4S company collected an undisclosed amount of money from the drop safe.

As the guard tried to leave the shop, three unidentified men, having pretended to be customers, held him at gunpoint and demanded the money box.

The men managed to flee with a substantial sum of money in a white Golf GTI.

According to unconfirmed reports, the perpetrators drove towards Bethal and apparently turned onto a gravel road near Davel.

Nobody was injured and no shots were fired during the robbery.
