Transnet Ermelo has issued a notice warning members of the community of their planned ten days shut-down for rail maintenance from 12 to 21 May.
Mr Tshililo Tshiovhe from the Engineering Technician and Training Department said their maintenance plan will affect traffic flow in certain areas of town.
On 13 May all traffic and train movement across level crossings in Havenga and Oos Street near the OTK silo will be halted from 06:00 to 18:00 and the road will be reopened in the evening from 18:00 to 06:00.
On 14 May the level crossing at Wilgers and Havenga Streets near the M.A.N. truck depot will be closed. Residents and industry workers will be able to use the opposite level crossing while work is underway.
No heavy vehicles or persons travelling through town will be able to use Havenga Street, except for business purposes in Havenga Street.
Alternative routes for people travelling from Breyten towards Piet Retief have been opened via Davel, Little, Border and Voortrekker streets. Traffic travelling the opposite direction from Piet Retief will travel via Voortrekker, Border, Little and Davel streets.
Signage will be provided for alternative roads and members of the community are advised that this can change on short notice due to dependence on weather conditions.
