Transnet cars torched

Transnet’s four hired cars torched.

Transnet has opened a case of arson with Ermelo Police yesterday after four of their hired cars were set alight by unknown persons and the reason for the attack is not known.

A truck, van and two taxi buses were torched during the night and Msukaligwa Fire and Rescue Unit was called to maintain the fire.

The rail company however suspects that the attack is linked to the current 10 day contracts that their fixed term workers were awarded in order to work during the shutdown maintenance period.

The fixed term employees are dissatisfied with the 10 days contracts and are demanding long term contracts.

No arrests have been made.
