Car collides with police vehicle

A case of reckless and negligent driving as well as one of driving under the influence of alcohol is being investigated.

Ermelo: A police vehicle and a light motor vehicle were involved in a collision to the east of the Thusi intersection on the road between Ermelo and Hendrina at approximately 05:00 on Saturday morning.

The police officers travelling in the vehicle were lucky to emerge unscathed and the driver of the light sedan sustained only a cut above the eye.

Police spokesman for Ermelo, Capt Carla Prinsloo said police officials travelling in two vehicles, were about to commence routine patrols in Wesselton when they encountered a motorist in a light sedan travelling at high speed on the wrong side of the road.

The driver of the first police vehicle managed to avoid a collision but the sedan collided with the second vehicle.

Police are investigating a case of reckless and negligent driving as well as a case of driving under the influence of alcohol.
