Two men died of gunshot wounds shortly after being admitted to the Ermelo Provincial Hospital at 00:30 on Sunday.
Police spokesman for Ermelo, Capt Carla Prinsloo, said staff at the hospital informed police that both men had succumbed after being brought in with gunshot wounds.
A 27-year-old male was found to have been shot twice in the chest and a 23-year-old male had been shot three times in the stomach.
It is alleged that the men had earlier become embroiled in an argument while playing snooker at a local tavern.
Further investigations have lead police to believe that a third party was involved in the shooting.
Police are now looking for a 28-year-old suspect who had left the tavern during the argument and later returned with a firearm.
It is believed the suspect shot the two men as they left the tavern.
