Fraud suspect arrested

Chrissiesmeer arrested a 21-year-old Durban based fraud suspect for colluding with call centre officials and defrauded a Chrissiesmerr resident R12 000 from his bank account.

 

Mr Sibeko received a phone call from a call centre agent who wanted to confirm and update Sibeko’s banking details after which he requested him to switch off his cellphone for ten minutes.

Upon switching it back on, he received an sms notification that R12 000 had been transferred from his account.

Const Maredi and Sgnt Ndaba from Chrissiesmeer attended to the case and arrested Nhlakanipho Ndaba at Umlazi in Durban.

The suspect appeared in the Ermelo’s Magistrate Court yesterday.
