Brothers arrested on stock theft charge

Both were granted bail and are due to appear in the Ermelo District Court on 9 December.

Two brothers were arrested by detectives of the Ermelo Stock Theft Unit in Ennis Street on Sunday 13 November after being found in possession of 11 unmarked live goats which they were selling to the public out of the back of a bakkie.

Police believe the animals were stolen.

The suspects were taken into custody and appeared in Ermelo Magistrate’s Court on Monday 14 November, but were denied bail.

On their second appearance on 21 November, both were granted bail and are due to appear in court again on 9 December at the Ermelo District Court.

The police have requested anyone with information or who can assist in identifying the animals to phone D/Sgt S.W. Khumalo of the Ermelo Stock Theft Unit at 073 688 3506.
