Drug bust case postponed

The drugs were found stashed in the spare wheel and auxiliary fuel tank of the Toyota Prado.

A suspected drug dealer appeared briefly in the Ermelo Regional Court on Monday on charges of dealing in narcotics.

The case was postponed to 13 February.

Ibraino Canderio was arrested near Chrissiesmeer on 1 May last year after being found in possession of 52 kg of heroin.

The drugs, with an estimated street value of R52m, were found stashed in the spare wheel and auxiliary fuel tank of the Toyota Prado he had driven through the Oshoek border post from Swaziland.

A large amount of cash that included American dollars, Mozambican meticais and SA rands was also found in the vehicle.

Canderio’s first court appearance was on Tuesday 3 May last year. He remains in custody.
