The Economic Freedom Fighters Student Command (EFFSC) recently took the top positions in the Student Representative Council (SRC) elections at Gert Sibande TVET College, Ermelo campus.
The EFFSC surprised many with a landslide victory and unseated the South African Students Congress (SASCO), a student branch of the ANC, after the latter had been at the helm for the past eight years.

Results were released and the SRC decided on their office bearers:
Mr Bonginkosi Msibi (EFFSC) takes over from outgoing president, Mr Siyabonga Genius Shabalala (SASCO) who is currently campaigning nationally for a position in the South African Further Education and Training Student Association (SAFETSA).
Mr Muzi Hleza(SASCO) is the secretary with Mr Melusi Ndlangamandla (EFFSC) the deputy president.
Ms Promise Khubheka (EFFSC) is the deputy secretary, while Ms Samkelisiwe Mbokazi (EFFSC) is the treasurer.
Ms Busisiwe Mphali (SASCO) is the sports director and Sifiso Mkhwanazi will head the academics portfolio.
The SRC began their duties on Monday, 12 February and will be inducted on 23 February.
Outgoing president, Mr Genius Shabalala, wished the new leadership well, applauding them for a well-fought fight.
Mr Bonginkosi Msibi is excited about the new venture, saying he is looking forward to leading the campus.
“We have programmes in place that we will work on to benefit the students,” he said.
The campus ended the elections with students celebrating the month of love with festivities that included HIV and Aids testing, TB screening, a beauty pageant, music and poetry as well as food.
Students were advised to know their status and promote a healthy lifestyle with various health mobile clinic professionals in attendance.
