A man was arrested and charged murdering a minor in Mayflower on Friday, 22 February.
Piet Muzi Hlatshwayo (21) was arrested by the Mayflower Police after allegedly stabbing 16-year-old Thabo Mashinini with a beer bottle.
According to information at police’s disposal, on Friday, 15 February, the deceased was with a group of friends while the accused was also with his friends, when at about 2.45pm the two groups began fighting.
“The accused allegedly stabbed the deceased with a beer bottle to the head and he sustained fatal injuries,” Const Tryphina Utla, Mayflower Police spokesman, said.
The friends of the deceased rushed him to Mayflower Clinic.
The accused appeared in the Mayflower Periodical Court on Monday, 24 February and the case was postponed until 4 March for further investigation.
