Power outage forces license office to close in Ermelo

“There was a cable fault in the area and the situation was exacerbated by unprecedented incidences of copper cable thefts, which hampered provisions of municipal services to the community,” Mr Zwane said.

Residents in Ermelo were left fuming two weeks ago, after they were turned away at the traffic license offices, due to the offices having no electricity.

After the newspaper enquired to the Msukaligwa Municipality as to what went wrong when the power went off, municipal spokesman, Mr Mandla Zwane, said the licensing offices were closed due to electricity outages in the area.

“There was a cable fault in the area and the situation was exacerbated by unprecedented incidences of copper cable thefts, which hampered provisions of municipal services to the community,” Mr Zwane said.
