Breyten man slapped with life imprisonment for the rape of two young girls

“Parents need to report all suspicious behaviour from their children so that we can investigate and root out the culture of abuse on woman and children in our society.”

A 48-year-old man from Breyten was convicted and sentenced in the Ermelo Regional Court, on 2 August, for an incident that occurred in 2017.

He raped two young girls, aged six and 11 years old.

According to Sgt Thabo Mashegoane, spokesman for Breyten Police, the parents became suspicious and took the children to a local clinic, and was later taken to Thuthuzela Care Centre for further examination.

A case was opened at the Breyten Police Station and transferred to Ermelo Regional Court.

Sgt Mashegoane urged parents to create a safe environment for their children.

“They need to feel safe to speak up if something happened to them.”
