Working on Fire fights over 129 field and forest fires

The Mpumalanga firefighter’s put out 18 fires, with the fires recorded on the day spreading throughout the province in that day alone on 19 July.

When the winter fire season was at its peak, Working on Fire (WOF) firefighters in Mpumalanga worked with various departments and suppressed more than 129 veld and forest fires in July.

Departments such as the Department of Environment, Forestry and Fishery and WOF, worked with various Fire Protection Associations (FPA’s) during the winter season.

The Mpumalanga firefighter’s put out 18 fires throughout the province on 19 July.

According to Ms Amanda Mthembu, WOF’s provincial spokesman, the fires recorded were all successfully put out.

Ms Mthembu said, “We dispatched a total of 24 teams to assist their FPA’s and local municipalities in fire suppression operations in the month of July.”
