ACSU Security requested back-up during an attempted cable theft next to Thuzi Mine near Ermelo on 9 August.
According to Mr Nickey Phyffer, security guard for ACSU, the incident took place 15kms out of Ermelo on the Breyten Road on a farm.
An ACSU reaction unit and supervisor recovered 100m electrical cable that was allegedly to be used for a new machine at the saw mill on the farm.
Mr Phyffer added: “Five to six suspects cut cables and attempted to steal it.”
The suspects fled the scene before ACSU reaction unit arrived.
