Ten suspects denied bail in connection with possession of unlicensed firearms, ammunition and explosives

According to Const Thabang Mokwana, spokesman for Carolina Police, the police stopped the taxi, and upon searching they found three firearms, four explosive devices, cigarettes and money amounting of R6989.

The ten men that were arrested on 21 July by Carolina Police in connection with possession of unlicensed firearms, ammunition and explosives, were denied bail at Eerstehoek Regional Court in Elukwatini on 20 November.

Maweli Mxolisi Vincent (21), Maseko Vusi Charles (28), Mngwenya Simphiwe (25), Mul Derge (25), Nkambule Mthobisi Doctor (34), Nkambule Mcebo Thapelo (23), Shiba Bongani (33), Shongwe Doctor Ephraem (29), Sibanyoni Sibusiso Prince (34), Silinda Lucky Mabhobo (24) first appeared in Carolina Magistrate Court on 22 July.

The arrests came after the sector patrol team received information about an Inyathi Taxi that was supposedly involved in a highjacking of children travelling towards Carolina.

The investigation established that there was no kidnapping case, but the suspects were involved in business robbery in Mayflower.
