Mayflower Police arrested eight suspects, between the ages of 19 and 43-years-old on 3 December.
They were arrested in connection with murder.
According to Const Tryphinah Utla , spokesman for Mayflower Police, it is alleged that the suspects accused a 41-year-old man of stealing a cell phone.
They then allegedly proceeded to assault him with stick and bottles.
She added that the suspects first appeared in Eerstehoek Magistrate Court on 3 December and that the case was postponed to 6 December.
It was later postponed to 18 December for formal bail application.
Const Utla said that seven of the suspects were granted R500 bail each and the eighth suspect was granted R3 000 bail.
