Rape in Ermelo on the increase

“They assaulted her boyfriend and two of the suspects took her to another bed where they took turns raping her.”

ERMELO – Several rape cases along with one house robbery case were reported to Ermelo police over the past week.

According to Capt Carla Prinsloo, the spokesman for Ermelo police, the first case of rape took place on October 22 around 21:00.

Capt Prinsloo said the victim (21) went home to Cwebezela after visiting a place of entertainment.

She added at home she found her friend in the company of a man.

“Later she went to urinate.

“The man followed her and then allegedly raped her,” Capt Prinsloo said.

The second rape case took place on October 23 around 01:00, where the victim (21) and her boyfriend were sleeping in her room at Extention 34.

According to Capt Prinsloo, they woke up when someone knocked on the door.

She added before they could open, suspects, forced their way in.

“They assaulted her boyfriend and two of the suspects took her to another bed where they took turns raping her.

“The suspects fled taking cell phones, cash and groceries with them,” she said.

In the third instance, a 20-year-old victim was on her way home after visiting a place of entertainment on October 24 around 1:00.

Capt Prinsloo said on her way she was confronted by a man threatening her with a firearm.

She concluded he forced her to Mpumalanga Stadium where he raped her.
