Man who nearly ran children and residents over in Nomdeni awaits next court appearance

His case was postponed to 8 February 2022 for trial.

ERMELO – Mr Barend Daniel Boshoff (50) appeared in the Ermelo Magistrate’s Court on charges of attempted murder on November 2.

His case was postponed to 8 February 2022 for trial.

Highvelder previously reported when police initially arrested him when he nearly ran children and residents over at Nomdeni on January 29.

Mr Boshoff made his first court appearance on February 1.

According to Capt Carla Prinsloo, spokesman of the Ermelo police, he was released on R1 000 bail.

In the initial article, a source who agreed to speak to Highvelder on the condition of anonymity, said, “The motorist drove straight at us, crashing into and knocking over a pole in the process.”

One resident allegedly sustained injuries while jumping out of the vehicle’s way.
