Police launch manhunt for robbers after armed robbery in Carolina

CAROLINA – The police launched a manhunt and are investigating a case of armed robbery that took place on November 4.

According to Sgt Thabang Mokwana, the spokesman for the Carolina police, two men entered Beaver Canoe clothing store under false pretences.

“While the store workers were assisting them, a third suspect came into the shop and closed the door, drew a firearm and ordered everyone to cooperate.

“They ordered one of the workers to take the All Star shoes and put them in bags, which were taken from the store,” he said.

The suspects also stole an undisclosed amount of money from the till as well as the staff’s cellphones before they fled the scene.

According to Sgt Mokwana, the getaway vehicle could not be identified as the culprits fled on foot.

All three suspects were wearing masks.

Sgt Mokwana said no one has been arrested as yet and the police urge anyone with information that may assist in the investigation or point to the whereabouts of the transgressors, to immediately contact Det Capt Hesekiel Msibi on 017 843 2108.

“All information received will be treated as confidential and callers may opt to remain anonymous,” Sgt Mokwana concluded.
