CAROLINA – A church outreach programme for the 16 Days Against Gender-based Violence (GBV) were held at Swedish Free Church on November 21.
Sgt Thabang Mokwana, social crime officer and spokesman for Carolina police addressed the community.
He spoke about gender-based violence, violence against the LGBTIQ community, the effects of drugs and the effect of having a criminal record.
“The community were advised to say stand up to GBV and to report all criminal activities to the police,” Sgt Mokwana said.
He discouraged the victims from withdrawing cases against their abusive partners.
To the youth he spoke about the dangers of drugs and gangsterism, especially at school and to avoid being involved in criminal activities that will lead to their arrest and have a negative effect on their future.
