BREYTEN – A 42-year-old woman was arrested in connection with the murder of her 47-year-old neighbour.
According to Brig Selvy Mohlala, a provincial police spokesperson, the incident had taken place at about 20:30 on March 13 in the KwaZanele Township.
The victim had gone to the neighbours’ house in search of his wife, whom he allegedly found drinking with three of her friends.
Upon his arrival, he reportedly demanded that his wife return home with him, but she refused.
The man and the four individuals got into an argument, and during the altercation, the victim allegedly pulled out a knife.
One of the men attempted to calm the situation, but was stabbed in the hand.
The suspect, one of the wife’s friends, allegedly grabbed the knife from the man’s hands and stabbed him several times in the upper body.
“It is said that the man, who was bleeding, returned to his house, where a friend discovered his body the next morning,” Brig Mohlala said.
He was found in a pool of blood at the back of his house.
Breyten police and emergency services were called to the scene. He was certified dead. The woman handed herself over to the authorities and was arrested.
