UPDATE – Man receives bail after Hawks clamped down on sale of illegal substances

According to Capt Dineo Sekgotodi, spokesman for the Hawks in Mpumalanga, "Information was received and investigated about a person who was selling steroids at Muscle Mecca in Ermelo."

ERMELO – Mr Micheal van der Linde (22) was arrested on April 7 in connection with violating the Medicines and Related Substances Act.

The Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation unit based in Secunda, together with the Ermelo Local Criminal Record Centre, Crime Information Gathering and local police carried out the arrest.

According to Capt Dineo Sekgotodi, spokesman for the Hawks in Mpumalanga, “Information was received and investigated about a person who was selling steroids at Muscle Mecca in Ermelo.”

During the investigation, it was established that the suspect did not have valid documents to possess the said medicine.

Mr Michael van der Linde was released on R5000 bail.

The court was consulted and a warrant of the search was authorised and executed at the business.

Numerous illegal substances to the value of R200 000 and electronic devices were found and confiscated.

Van der Linde was released on R5 000 bail, and the case was postponed until June 27 for further investigation.
