Six arrested over alleged stock theft in Piet Retief

Members of the police from Piet Retief’s Stock Theft Unit were alerted about the matter and they were summoned to the scene.

MKHONDO – Six suspects, aged 20 to 38, appeared in Piet Retief Magistrate’s Court Thursday, November 3, for allegedly possessing stolen livestock carcasses.

The farmer had apparently done a routine check on his sheep when to his surprise he noticed that 22 were missing.

According to reports, the farmer conducted his own investigation before learning that the suspects had reportedly already killed and stolen his sheep.

Members of the police from Piet Retief’s Stock Theft Unit were alerted about the matter and they were summoned to the scene.

When authorities arrived, they began their investigation and apparently discovered four suspects in possession of the bodies.

Sheep heads with brandmarks believed to belong to the complaint were also seized.
