Police arrest four in Davel with suspected stolen mineral-bearing stones

The case was posponed to Thursday, December 8, to accommodate interpreter services.

DAVEL – Four Zimbabwean nationals were remanded into custody following their appearance in the Ermelo Magistrate’s Court on November 30, for the alleged possession of stolen mineral-bearing stones.

They were arrested in a joint operation between the police and a local security firm.

The suspects, Terrance Masungu (23), Norman Chapu (24), Blackie Vembo (25) and Bryn Moyane (21) were reportedly found with 10 bags of chrome-bearing stones which they are alleged to have stolen from a nearby stationary goods train.

The suspects could not give the valid reasons on the origins of the stones and hence they were arrested for possession of suspected stolen property.

The case was posponed to Thursday, December 8, to accommodate interpreter services.

The Mpumalanga Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, praised the cooperation shown by the police and security personnel.
