Gert Sibande District Municipality employees work up a sweat

First prize winners received gold medals and trophies, while all other participants received silver medals and trophies.

Gert Sibande District Municipality (GSDM) officials recently worked up a sweat at the provincial South African Municipal Sports Recreation Association’s (SAMSRA) games which were held at the Sasol Club, eMbalenhle.

Sasol Club, eMbalenhle officials battled their way to victory in a variety of games, including soccer, netball, tug of war, and volleyball.

Lekwa Local Municipality went head-to-head with GSDM on the soccer field and managed to win on penalties.

Mkhondo Local Municipality also defeated GSDM in the tug of war and pool games to claim the provincial title.

Lekwa Local Municipality showed their mettle against Chief Albert Luthuli Local Municipality on the netball court and won the final match.

GSDM and the local municipalities will be preparing to compete in the national SAMSRA games, which will be held in Mbombela at the end of September.
