ERMELO – The accused in the murder case of Smangaliso Innocent Nkosi (25) appeared for the second time in the Ermelo Magistrate’s Court on November 24.

During his first appearance on November 17, Highvelder applied for permission to take photos of the accused, but his lawyer opposed the request.

The case was postponed to November 24 for the outcome of the application to take photos of the accused and to ensure the investigating officer attends the court case.

During his most recent appearance in court, his lawyer stated to the court that by publishing his photo, it would put his life as well as his family members’ lives in danger.

The case was postponed to December 1 for the outcome of the application as well as the bail application.

The shooting occurred at a local filling station between 01:00 and 02:00 on November 12.

Without warning, an assailant emerged, jogging towards the unsuspecting Nkosi where he was standing with a group of some other men.

The attacker shot Nkosi in the head at point-blank range, and he collapsed.

The suspect, seemingly unfazed, proceeded to shoot Nkosi multiple times as the bystanders scrambled to get away.
