UPDATE: No imminent danger after oil spill in Ermelo

A company called Spilltech has been tasked with the cleanup.

According to a member of the Msukaligwa Fire and Rescue Services, there is no imminent danger to residents. However, role players are trying to minimize the spread of the oil to reduce the potential for accidents on the slippery surface.

Additionally, new information indicates that Spilltech, a company specializing in such cleanups, has been tasked with the cleanup.

A collision has also occurred after a driver lost control of their vehicle, veering over the sidewalk and colliding with a pole.

Road closed in Ermelo after massive oil spillage

The Kerk and Voortrekker Intersection, located near McDonald’s, is temporarily closed due to an unexpected breakdown of an oil tanker.

According to reports, the tanker was transporting crude oil at the time of the incident.

Emergency response teams, including Msukaligwa Fire and Rescue Services, local towing services, and Msukaligwa Traffic officials, are currently on the scene to address the situation and manage potential hazards.

In light of this incident, motorists are strongly advised to seek alternative routes.

The closure is expected to remain in effect until the necessary assessments and clean-up operations are completed.
