The organisers ensured the horses had ample rest between sessions, prioritising their well-being throughout the day.

The National Barrel Horse Association of South Africa (NBHA-SA) hosted an event at Farm Eikehof on the R65 to Amsterdam over the weekend.

The day saw several motorcyclists and horse riders participating in various activities, including 3D barrel racing, pole bending, a Coca-Cola race and an exciting showdown between motorcycles and horses.

Now, if you believe a motorcycle is faster than a horse, think again, as the horses emerged victorious with a 3-0 overall win, although the motorcyclists did manage to secure some wins in the individual races.

Attendees thoroughly enjoyed the action-packed day and the warm hospitality, and were spoilt for choice in terms of food and drinks. The horses were also exceptionally well cared for, with fly repellent provided and water troughs available to ensure they remained hydrated.
