GSDM places spotlight on mens’ health
Some of the topics discussed included mental health, men’s health, family violence, sexual offences.
ERMELO – The Gert Sibande District Municipality (GSDM) held its first men’s conference at the mayor’s parlour at the GSDM Office Complex on June 19.
The event was aimed at addressing men’s mental health and overall well-being, coinciding with Men’s Health Month.
Makhazasi Radebe, general manager of corporate services at the municipality, explained the purpose of the event, “This conference aimed to provide our male employees with a platform to engage with various stakeholders on issues that impact them directly.”
The initiative was part of a broader effort to promote mental health and well-being among men within GSDM.
Cllr Bethuel Zunguza, member of the mayoral committee for finance, represented the district executive mayor at the conference.
The event, which was a closed conference, covered a range of topics.
These included mental health, men’s health, family violence, sexual offences, child protection, maintenance issues, marriage contracts, and financial wellness.
The goal was to create a safe space for men to discuss these issues openly.
