NOTICE OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT PROCESS FOR THE WASTE MANAGEMENT LICENCE APPLICATION FOR THE PROPOSED ESTABLISHMENT OF A WASTE OIL RE-REFINING FACILITY ON PORTION RE/1230 OF THE FARM HIGHVELD INDUSTRIAL PARK NO. 1230 JS, WITHIN EMALAHLENI LOCAL MUNICIPALITY, NKANGALA DISTRICT MUNICIPALITY, MPUMALANGA PROVINCE Notice is hereby given in terms of the National Environmental Management: Waste Act, 2008 (Act No. 59 of 2008) (NEMWA), and the applicable regulations, pursuant to an application for a Waste Management Licence to be issued in terms of Section 49 of the National Environmental Management: Waste Act, 2008 (Act No. 59 of 2008).
DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT: Vultures Waste and Projects propose to establish a waste oil re- refining plant within Facility 18A at Highveld Industrial Park in eMalahleni. The proposed facility will occupy an approximate footprint of 1,309m and will have a total oil storage capacity of 450m (450,000 litres) in bunded above-ground tanks constructed on impermeable surfaces. The plant will process approximately 15 tons (15,000kg) of used lubricating oil per day, sourced from industries, mining operations, and mechanical workshops. The Scoping Report was accepted by the Competent Authority on 03 September 2026, and the application has progressed to the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) phase. PROJECT LOCATION:
