Deutsche Schule Durban

Picking up German is child’s play
As adults, learning a new language is a daunting task, however most children accomplish this with ease if they are exposed to the language regularly from a young age. Teaching a child multiple languages has also been shown to help them develop cognitively and increase their intercultural skills as well as their social confidence. This is why the Deutsche Schule Durban (DSD) invites children from as young as 18 months, to ensure that they do not need to come from German-speaking homes, to become part of this long-standing and successful school in beautiful green surroundings.

The DSD is premised on the belief that multilingualism and intercultural skills are an important part of an education towards a global future. It is a small, independent primary school affiliated with ISASA and with full Umalusi accreditation. The school provides a warm, family-centered environment, based on Christian values, that makes learners and their parents feel welcome. It subscribes to a holistic view of education, using a combination of the South African and German curricula. Classes are small, allowing for individual attention for learners from the very supportive teaching staff. Don’t live in the Cowies Hill area? No problem. The bus service to key Durban areas will get your child to and from school safely.
